Diamond Director

Operator field guide

A practical game-day sequence for preparing, rehearsing, streaming, recovering, recording, and finishing safely on iPhone, iPad, or Android.

Game-day sequence

Rehearse first. Validate privately. Then run the game.

The built-in camera path does not require a Mevo camera. Live output does require an authorized, operator-supplied secure RTMPS destination and a reliable upstream connection.

1. Prepare the device

Charge the device, enable Do Not Disturb, mount it securely, connect to the intended production network, and keep at least 1 GB free when local recording will be enabled.

2. Rehearse offline

Select the built-in camera, enter a non-sensitive rehearsal name, confirm framing and microphone permission, then make and play a short local recording before using any live destination.

3. Prepare private output

Confirm that the operator has external-camera streaming permission, prepare a private future event, and place a second logged-in device where it can monitor playback and audio.

4. Test and go live

Enter the event-specific secure RTMPS destination, run the TLS-only endpoint test, review Production diagnostics, and start output only when no readiness item is blocked.

5. Verify recovery

After five stable minutes, interrupt the production network for 5–10 seconds. Confirm RECONNECTING appears, the original timer and local recording continue, and the app returns to LIVE after transport recovery.

6. Finish safely

End output in Diamond Director, verify the finalized movie, forget the saved destination, and share only the credential-free field-test report when support evidence is needed.

What to watch

Keep the production screen visible.

Watch the output phase, measured bitrate, dropped frames, recording indicator, selected Program source, and elapsed time. Treat RECONNECTING as an active recovery state and wait for LIVE to return before assuming private playback has resumed.

Production diagnostics show permission, network, storage, and thermal readiness. A serious or critical temperature warning, very low storage, or a terminal network failure should be resolved before restarting.

Fast troubleshooting

Protect the recording and the private credentials.

No preview

Confirm the built-in camera source and camera permission, then reopen Stream setup.

No audio

Confirm microphone permission and verify audio from the second private monitoring device.

Destination rejected

Use a fresh event-specific key, verify rtmps://, and confirm external-camera permission for that event.

Connection interrupted

Leave the app in the foreground and allow automatic recovery; do not create a second session while RECONNECTING.

Device hot

End output safely, move the device out of direct sun, remove unnecessary insulation, and let it cool before retrying.

Recording missing

Open Production diagnostics after ending output and confirm the movie appears in the on-device library.
